OLCA Portland Regional Chapter Meeting July 2026
Wednesday, July 15, 2026 (5:30 PM - 7:00 PM) (PDT)
Description
Kevin Cardoza, Stark Street Lawn & Garden’s Battery and Automation Strategist, will discuss battery setup and transition strategy for commercial landscape crews.
The presentation will focus on the practical side of moving from gas to battery-powered equipment, including how to plan around daily energy demand, battery quantity, charging infrastructure, crew workflow, and real-world operating costs.
The goal is to help companies transition without creating downtime or frustration. Kevin will cover how much power crews need for a full workday, how many batteries it takes to support that workload, why charging strategy matters, and how to build a plan that keeps crews working instead of waiting.
Topics will include:
- Why battery adoption is accelerating
- Gas vs. battery operating cost considerations
- How to estimate daily crew energy needs
- Battery quantity and runtime planning
- Overnight charging vs. in-field charging
- Charging infrastructure and electrical capacity
- How to measure real-world usage during a demo or rollout
